Training Division

Every Tuesday night from 7pm – 10pm, the entire membership of the fire department trains on basic and or new material in the fire service. Training is all about learning new skills and certifying the ability to perform them to a given standard. The goal is to practice the skills until they become automatic.

Croft ladder truck.gif (342158 bytes)After being accepted into the fire department the training officer would enroll you into the next available class. This will start your career as a volunteer and maybe one day a paid firefighter. The courses you need to take are sponsored through the South Carolina Fire Academy (SCFA) in Columbia, SC. Most of the classes will be held at the Spartanburg County Emergency Service Academy (ESA) in Duncan. Within one year of joining the department, you will need to complete the OSHA FF class. Then over the next five years we would like for you to attend the courses listed below:

1152 OSHA FF 80hrs. Mandatory

2722 HAZ-MAT Operations 24hrs. Mandatory

First Aid/CPR 16hrs. Optional

1153 Firefighter I 80hrs. Optional

1137 Flammable & Comb. Liquid FF. 16hrs. Optional

3330 Auto Extrication 16hrs. Optional

1154 Firefighter II 36hrs Optional

 

Other courses will be available to increase your knowledge & skills of the Fire service to protect you, the public and their co-workers.
